Nokia just announced its most affordable Windows Phone 8 smartphone to date – the Lumia 620.

Surprise, surprise! Nokia just announced its most affordable Windows Phone 8 smartphone to date – the Lumia 620. We are dealing with a compact device tailored for the needs of the younger crowd. And what better way to attract youngsters than to treat a phone to a flashy paint job?

At the ongoing Le Web Conference in Paris, Finnish giant Nokia has announced a launch of the Nokia Lumia 620 smartphones.

That's exactly what the Nokia Lumia 620 has to differentiate itself with. Its maker has applied what it calls a "dual-shot" color technique, which means that a layer of translucent or transparent polycarbonate is laid over the bottom color coat. This produces secondary color blends and adds texture effects to the smartphone's shell.

With Windows Phone 8, Nokia Lumia 620 users will get a whole bunch of neat features, courtesy of Nokia. There's Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, Nokia Transport, and Nokia City Lens. Furthermore, the Cinemagraph lens can be used to add simple animations to photos, while the Smart Shoot feature can combine several pictures into one perfect shot.

The Nokia Lumia 620 is scheduled to arrive in January of 2013 and will cost roughly $250. Markets across Asia will be the first to get it, followed by Europe and the Middle East. It will be available in lime green, orange, magenta, yellow, cyan, white and black.

The Lumia 620 arrives with a 5 MP camera with LED Flash on the rear and the VGA front facing shooter.

The Nokia Lumia 620 packs in:

►3.8-inch TFT LCD ClearBlack Display
►Display resolution of 800 x 480 pixels
►1 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 prcoessor
►512 MB RAM
►8 GB internal memory
►Expandable to 64 GB
►Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, NFC
►1300 mAh battery

Nokia has launched two smartphones running on Windows Phone 8 - Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820.

Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 both will offer free 7 GB of cloud space for SkyDrive users.

Lumia 920

Nokia Lumia 920 is the new flagship smartphone from Nokia, which comes with 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display and 2000 mAH battery.
This smartphone has an one-piece polycarbonate body and will be available in yellow, red, white, grey, and black colour options.

This Windows Phone 8 operating system based device will come with a 1.5 Ghz dual core processor and 1 GB RAM. It will have a 4.5 inch high definition display.
Nokia is also expected to incorporate its PureView camera technology in it. However, unlike the Nokia 808 which comes with 41 megapixel camera, this one is likely to get only 8 megapixel unit. There will also be a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera on the phone.
According a Twitter user - Evleaks - who has leaked the images of the phone, the phone will also come with wireless charging, which will support for Qi wireless power standard - making it compatible with other wireless charging products.
Other highlights of the phone is its NFC (Near field communication) chip, 32 GB internal memory, 32 GB expandable memory, and 4G LTE connectivity.
The phone comes with unibody polycarbonate design similar to that of Lumia 800, and is likely to feature colours like Yellow, Grey and Red apart from other colours.

In terms of pricing, there is no information right now, but it is expected that the Lumia 920 could be priced at Rs 35,000 plus.

Lumia 820

Nokia Lumia 820 is a mid-range Windows Phone 8 smartphone that the Finnish handset maker has unveiled.
It has a 4.3-inch Clearblack display and is powered by 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 dual-core processor.

Lumia 820 has many similar features as the Lumia 920 like the camera; however, it might not be have the PureView technology. However, it may have the same processor as the Lumia 920 and even the wireless charging functionality. But, it comes with a slightly smaller 4.3 inch screen, only 8 GB of internal memory which is though expandable up to 32 GB.
The phone is likely to look similar to Lumia 710 and will get changeable cover with multiple colour options.

Nokia Lumia 820 is likely to be the new mid range for Nokia Lumia series. However, Lumia 610 or some new iteration of it based on Windows Phone 7.8 is likely to retain the position of the entry level phone of the Lumia series.
In terms of pricing, there is no information right now, but it is expected that the  Lumia 820 may cost around Rs 28,000 in India.

Nokia Wireless Charging Plate DT-900 will also be made available in a range of colours.

Both the new Lumia smartphones come with an in-built wireless charging.
Nokia has partnered with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and Virgin Atlantic that will enable Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 owners to recharge their phones whilst on the go.
Nokia Lumia Charging Plate DT-900, can also be used to charge Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 devices.

The Nokia Lumia 920 can be charged wirelessly with the help of Fatboy Recharge Pillow.

Nokia is claiming wireless charging to be its biggest innovation for smartphones. Both the new Lumia smartphones are Qi-compatible, which means users can choose any wireless charger.

Nokia fans attack iPhone 5 in Samsung style, declare the Lumia 920 ‘the heavyweight champion’

Now there’s a new “ad” ready to become viral, coming from Nokia fans (or maybe Windows Phone fans). The unofficial commercial is entitled “Flyweight contender, meet the heavyweight champion” and pits the Nokia Lumia 920 against the iPhone 5.
In a very similar fashion to Samsung’s ad, Nokia fans compare the two phones in all important departments, trying to convince us the Lumia 920 is a better choice than the iPhone 5 all-around.
Despite all that, the people behind the comparison do manage to make several good points, pointing out the larger and crisper display of the Lumia 920, the better cameras, the standard micro SIM and micro USB, as well as a generous list of useful features nowhere to be found on the iPhone 5, including NFC, wireless charging, DLNA, the screen’s super sensitivity and so forth.
